Bell

C linked me to an online video game yesterday and I’ve been hooked ever since. Because it is a beautiful idea. And beautifully done as well. Imagine sending someone a message and then imagine that message as an actual creature that has to travel across vast distances and overcome a gazillion hurdles along the way to get to the other person, and imagine if it has to fight to remain unchanged.

I suppose it doesn’t make sense anymore, the idea of a message having to work hard at just being delivered. Not in this world, at least. But it used to once.  And maybe that’s why Bell makes me feel happy and sad and nostalgic all at once.

I played it once for you, Zonk. I tried to send you something. And it ended up looking like this.

Hang in there.
Hang in there.

And you can even see what the original message was supposed to be and how it came to read this way. Just click here.

I paint and make music and blog like a maniac. These days I try to run. But I have chicken legs and lungs the size of two-rupee balloons. I fail. I like pajamas and striped socks and books that read like song and songs that sound like poetry and strangers who read this page. And Maggi when I'm sick or cold or sad or celebrating. They'll find noodles in my veins if ever they cut me open. And potatoes. And maybe a tiny bit of whiskey. I'll be an Unidentified Living Object and they'll put my insides on display. It will be crazy. It will be awesome. It will.
